New Sporkforge.com Tool: Auto Fuel Savings vs. Total Cost Comparison

I'm pleased to announce the availability of a new tool for use in vehicle comparison shopping:

Auto Fuel Savings vs. Total Cost Comparison

In it, you provide your average monthly driving distance, the cost of gasoline, and optionally the interest rate at which to discount future gas expenditures. You also provide the initial cost and average mileage of two vehicles. The tool then calculates the total cost of ownership (initial cost plus periodic fuel costs) of each vehicle, and also calculates the "break-even" point, which is the point in time where the more fuel efficient vehicle becomes more cost effective.

So, for example, if you're considering spending several thousands more for a fuel efficient hybrid or other high-tech vehicle, this tool will calculate the point at which you'll recoup the added expense through fuel cost savings.
